An innovative series of live web conferences entitled The Underlying Cause and Treatment of Chronic Rhinosinusitis is being held throughout 2005. This 1.5 hour educational program offers healthcare professionals the unique opportunity to hear directly from Mayo Clinic researchers who first explored the theory that chronic rhinosinusitis is most often the result of an immune response, induced by T-cells and eosinophils, and directed at extramucosal fungi in the nose and paranasal sinuses. Following a discussion of the disease's etiology, the program faculty review clinical trials of emerging treatment options. Program participants also have an opportunity to direct questions to the faculty.
Featured faculty for the program include Jens Ponikau, MD, Department of Otorhinolaryngology at The Mayo Clinic and Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at Mayo Medical School in Rochester, Minnesota and David A. Sherris, MD, Interim Chair of Otolaryngology at University at Buffalo, State University of New York and Chief of Service for the Department of Otolaryngology at Kaleida Health Foundation in Buffalo, New York.
Participation in the conference is free of charge. Additional program information, faculty biographies and a complete list of available program dates are available at the program web site at www.ashpadvantage.com/crs.
